December News 2016

What a magical month it’s been at Monkey Puzzle Ridgmont Road & one which certainly has been filled with Christmas cheer!

A tradition of ours is to count our way down to our Christmas break with lots of fun filled celebration days! Christmas arrived with an explosion of glitter, tinsel & snowflakes as the nursery was decorated beautifully top to bottom. The children were welcomed into nursery through twinkling lights leading up the path & greeted in reception by a bright colourful Christmas tree, decorated with homemade decorations from children we have cared for throughout the years.

Our countdown consisted of; a Christmas Pyjama day where traditional Christmas stories were read whilst snuggled in the book corner, National Christmas jumper day for the whole nursery with a Pre-school walk to St Albans Cathedral which was amazing & perfectly finished with a school choir singing hymns. Our very own Red Monkeys took their carol concert on tour around the nursery proudly singing to their peers & the annual Christmas Party was a success as we were joined by many parents/carers, Tiny Mites & the big man himself….Santa. The Jewish celebration of Hannukah was also a wonderful celebration at nursery with our oldest children visiting our local synagogue, playing the Dreidel game, creating menorah’s & Star of David pat-paintings!

Our week concluded with a traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings…all staff & children joined together & the day was definitely one to remember! Throughout this week we also tried foods such as; homemade mince pies, turkey & stuffing sandwiches, Christmas cake & Jewish Apple cake.

Amongst all of the above there were lots of little fingers & toes working hard to create special gifts for their families; cards, calendars, gingerbread men & tree decorations to name a few!

Now we can sit back & reflect on a wonderful year gone by & look forward to welcoming our families back in the New Year. We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a safe & very Merry Christmas, with Best wishes for 2017!
