At Monkey Puzzle, we strongly believe that it is important to fill the nursery with lovely resources which provide excellent learning opportunities and we pride ourselves on the beautiful toys and equipment available to our children. We regularly update, replace and replenish resources to ensure the children are stimulated and excited. This Month, we have purchased a large range of new resources of which the children have been showing curiosity in.
Some of these resources, such as the foam building bricks, elephant shaped watering cans and giant teapots have been used to express the children’s love of role-play activities as they play imaginatively together. The assortment of sensory shapes have been delved into with enthusiasm as even the youngest children have been intrigued with how things feel and look, and shown fascination in the different ways the mirrored surfaces reflect the light.
As well as the interesting resources that we can buy, we also value the amazing natural resources that we have in and around our nursery setting. The milder weather in May has ensured that the children have spent even more time in the nursery garden. There is a large tree standing tall in our outside area which not only provides habitats for wildlife which interest our children but can also be used to discover textures, learn about growth and develop an understanding of the natural world. The children have also been using the tree to develop physical skills by climbing confidently and becoming sociable with games such as peek-a-boo.
