January 2021 News
Returning after Christmas was very different from previous years with lots of uncertainty and trepidation unsure if the children were going to be allowed to fill the rooms.
We were elated that the nursery did indeed open and all our children were able to return.
As many Januarys have done before them, January 2021 gave us snow…and snow means fun! Our toddler children dressed up warm and explored the snowy nursery garden. Exploring different textures and temperatures. This learning continued inside as the children poured warm water over ice with hidden, sleeping animals inside. They were amazed that by pouring the warm water they were able to free the animals!
Our very youngest and oldest children were at home when it snowed due to self-isolation periods but communication between home and nursery was kept alive by daily activities being emailed and zoom calls.
Receiving photos and videos of what our monkeys were enjoying at home was a gem.
G’day mate! We annually celebrate our Australian friends every January on Australia Day. The children tasted vegemite, listened to Australian stories and music and the staff planned themed activities using the colours of the Australian flag. A zoom call with our oldest children allowed us all to share our homemade digeridoos as well as being lucky enough to hear a real one being played…one of the advantages of a zoom call with talented parents!
