This month, we have been celebrating summer with a selection of exciting activities!
Blue Monkeys have eagerly explored and extended their physical development and sensory exploration. They’ve loved taking part in sensory disco’s, using the sensory lights, music and musical instruments! They’ve also explored a carefully constructed sensory path, where they walked, crawled and rolled through various different textures on the floor. This was then extended to further support physical development by creating an obstacle course with our new soft play shapes.
In Pink Monkeys, our toddlers have loved exploring some exciting activities in the tufty tray, from space play with sparkly cornflour gloop and star shape cutters, to creating an under the sea world using coloured rice and sea animals. They enjoyed a lovely walk to collect leaves and sticks, which were then used to create a giant Gruffalo, lovely conversations were held about texture and how they felt. Pink Monkey’s have also taken advantage of the lovely weather by having a picnic tea at the park!
In Red Monkeys, both our Chimps and Apes have been exploring their names using the alphabet shape cutters. They created each letter of their name using salt dough which were then decorated with paint and glitter. They were able to sequence the letters to spell their names, and practice sounding them out. Chimps have also been enjoying listening to Story CD’s and then recalling what had happened through conversations.
This month we’ve also sadly said goodbye to our Red Monkey’s who have all set off to start their next adventure at Big School! We celebrated this milestone with a fun filled party featuring a bouncy castle, balloon animals, face-painting, party games and ice cream! It’s been wonderful seeing the children grow and develop in their time here at Monkey Puzzle & we wish them all the very best of luck in the future.
