December brings tradition alongside bright, colourful celebrations with of course huge excitement as the children count down to their holiday season.
December 2017 was particularly special as the nursery was proudly named as a finalist in the National Nursery of the Year Awards.
As well as the excitement of the awards the traditional celebrations continued, starting with the Jewish festival of light; Hannukka. The children lit the Menorah every day for 8 days, listened to the story of Hannuka, played with Dreidels and were very fortunate to eat homemade traditional Lochshen pudding made by a very experienced Lochshen pudding mum!
Christmas started early in December at Monkey Puzzle, St Albans with the children eager to shake glitter and sequins to create gorgeous home made gifts and cards. This year all the children in the nursery made beautiful star shaped Christmas candle holders as well as large pieces of collaborative art work. We have worn Christmas jumpers, celebrated with Santa, eaten traditional Christmas dinner, danced to the best Christmas songs, walked to St Albans Cathedral and even sang along to the trumpet!
December really is a very special month and a time to think about friends, family and neighbours.
