December 2020 December has been busy with the run up to Christmas including listening to Christmas music and making cards as well as celebrating Hanukkah. Although the mornings and evenings were getting darker the nursery was lit up with twinkly fairy lights and decorated with tinsel both inside and outside. This month also saw us dress up for lots of different theme days, including Elf Day where we dressed up as Elves and explored lots of red and green activities; Frozen Day where we dressed up as characters from the films or in frozen themed clothing such as snowflakes or snowmen then explored lots of frozen activities such as freezing objects in water, playing with ice cubes or frozen vegetables and creating snowy scenes using flour; and of course Christmas Jumper Day when we all came in wearing our most festive jumpers or outfits. We also explored Hanukkah this month, the children in all rooms explored colourful activities and created Menorah’s, played with dreidels and listened to the Hanukkah story. The children also created their own Hanukkah gelt and enjoyed some tasty food prepared by Dean including rugelach and potato latkes. We got all dressed up in our best sparkly party outfits for a festive Christmas Party! We danced to Christmas music, enjoyed a tasty party tea and took part in party games such as pass the parcel and musical statues. We finished up on our last nursery day of the year with Christmas Dinner day, we all wore Christmas themed clothing and gathered together in our own rooms for staff and children to all enjoy a delicious lunch of Turkey with all the trimmings, thank you Dean! We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Christmas break and we look forward to seeing you all in the New Year!
