June News 2020
Monkey Puzzle, Ridgmont rd opened its big red door once again on 1st June.
It’s been a super, exciting and happy month with all our children welcomed back and settling extremely quickly. All children have shown beautiful behaviour and it was clear they had missed their friends and carers as we had missed them!
There were a few changes for the children to understand and one of those changes was the use of PPE. Activities were planned to allow the children to explore the PPE safely and all children were able to wear gloves, try on and use visors and masks which distinguished any worries, queries or concerns around PPE.
We also introduced individual messy play trays. Messy wet and dry play such as foam, cereal play, cornflour, baked beans etc is an important part of a child’s exploration and is usually explored in our large tuffty trays however in today’s climate individual trays are needed. What a huge success! All rooms have individual trays allowing for each child to take their time and enjoy the activity in front of them. All rooms reported children concentrating on activities for longer periods of time than usual.
There was also some extremely hot days during June so keeping cool could have been a challenge; However, the activities were planned accordingly and the children were able to paddle and splash in cool water, use tools to tap away the ice to discover hidden animals and run through the sprinkler. Servings of ice cream was also on the menu.
