March News
March seems to be a month all about the letter ‘Dd’…
We have had Ducks, Dress up, Daffodils for St David’s day, Disco Day and thought about Dirty hands…
Duck eggs arrived in their incubator at the start of the month. We were able to watch them hatch and the children handled them, observed them, draw them and laughed out loud as the duck’s wet feet made our hands and legs wet after swimming in the little paddling pool’s. As well as being extremely cute having the ducks for two weeks allowed our children to experience and learn all about the life cycle of a duck and discuss each of the stages.
Dress up was fantastic during the month of March with World book day, St David’s Day and Sports relief all being a great excuse to dress up and delve into another world. We absolutely adore books all year round and even have our own library! However, World Book Day is always extra fun as we share our favourite stories and authors with our friends and family.
Daffodils everywhere! Fresh flowers are normally found in the nursery, however daffodils being the national Welsh flower were in all rooms for St David’s Day. The children of all ages looked closely at the flower, painted them, painted with them! and depending on the age group we started to understand and discuss colour, a national symbol, shape and smell. We also looked at words, colours and food linked to Wales and their culture.
Dirty Hands were an important topic, especially for our older Red Monkeys. The children covered their hands in paint and then learnt how to wash their hands properly. Once all the paint had disappeared…voila..clean! We also discussed not only how but why we wash our hands.
Dreadfully important….Mothers Day…All the children made their own cards and gifts for their special someone x
Disco..We celebrated our last day together before the need to temporarily close with an amazing Disco and dancing.. we will celebrate again when we are open!
