This Month has brought some interesting weather which has in turn sparked some lovely conversations & activities, the children have also enjoyed lots of physical & sensory play.
Blue Monkeys have been focusing on experimenting with textures using their hands, feet & their whole bodies. The children explored a textured table which included feeling frozen peas, crazy foam & conditioner through cling film, patting, poking & spreading the materials. The babies have also been discovering mixing materials such as sand & crazy foam & water play.
This month in Pink Monkeys the children have explored lots of physical activities & had fun moving their bodies. They took part in a Zumba session complete with music, tambourines & coin belts, which made interesting sounds when we wriggled our hips! We have also been developing the children’s fine motor skills by using tweezers to pick up bugs hidden in water & crazy foam, prompting conversations around colour, counting & positional language. Creative activities were also explored using paint & collage materials to create animals for a display prompted by the visit from the animal man & the children’s interest in finding out about animals & their habitats.
Red Monkeys have been very busy creating delicious meals & treats! The children made their own wraps, carefully selecting what ingredients they wanted to include such as chicken, cheese & salad, then went on to enjoy their wraps for tea. They also made football cakes to celebrate sports day & then celebrated Easter by making shredded wheat & chocolate nests.
All rooms have been running sports day activities throughout the month, including a variety of races, music & movement, yoga & obstacle courses this combined with us raising funds for Sport Relief week, which saw us all attending nursery in our sportswear. This month has also brought with it two celebration days for St David’s day; celebrating Welsh culture, & St Patricks day; involving Irish activities.
