Throughout November the children have been keeping busy with a range of activities including exploring and role playing favourite stories, preparing for winter through discussions about seasons and the weather and getting involved in the dinosaur themed activities of this month’s challenge!
Our littlest babies in Blue Monkeys have been exploring a favourite story of theirs; The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The children enjoyed creating all the different foods that the caterpillar enjoys in the story, including tasty looking ice cream cones. Blue Monkeys have also been learning all about colours this month through lots of colourful activities, encouraging the children to repeat and recognise the colours and their names.
Pink Monkeys have discovered the features of all four seasons by creating objects and symbols from each; pastel coloured blossoms for springtime, ice lollies to represent summer, colourful leaves for autumn and snowmen for winter! The toddlers also threw themselves into our dinosaur challenge with enthusiasm as they became dinosaurs, stomping and roaring all around the garden!
Red Monkeys have also been exploring and learning all about winter through various mark making and creative activities. This included making penguins by cutting and sticking different shapes of paper, using duplo blocks and paint to print igloos as well as making 3D snowmen using paper plates and cotton wool.
This month has also seen the nursery get involved with exploring and celebrating Bonfire Night, Remembrance Day, Children in Need, Diwali, Thanksgiving and St Andrews Day through fancy dress, discussions around the topics and a special menu. At Monkey Puzzle, Ridgmont Road we believe children learn tolerance, understanding, and all about the world around us through discovering different cultures, their celebrations and their traditions.
