This month all age groups enjoyed celebrating many different occasions together; colour & sound exploration through Bonfire night discoveries, remembering those who helped us & taking part in a silence on Remembrance Day & eating lots of traditional foods, exploring the colours of the flags & taking part in various activities in celebration of the American Thanksgiving tradition & Scotland’s St Andrews day! We would also like to say a very big thank you to everyone who supported ‘Children in Need’ with us the children thoroughly enjoyed diving in to cooking activities producing yummy treats for our bake sale, we all looked fabulous in our spotty clothing & took part in spotacular activities. Role play activities & bringing stories to life have been a strong interest this month for our babies in Blue Monkeys, they have especially enjoyed the story of the Gruffalo. Also, the children’s ‘Understanding of the World’ development has been encouraged using small world people & animals, the carers used wooden blocks to create walls, houses, garages & habitats for the children to explore sparking their imaginations. Lastly Blue Monkeys have explored using their gross-motor skills whilst playing with the brand new soft play & ball pond! Our toddlers in Pink Monkeys have had great fun recognising & exploring colours through various activities; coloured rice, playdough, mixing colours & firework printing. The children have also been extending their gross-motor skills further through games during outside play. The children have been perfecting their football skills, throwing, catching & kicking this also promotes their social skills & encourages sharing. Red Monkeys have been making discoveries about our bodies & how they work & exploring methods which keep us healthy. The oldest Pre-school children have been keeping fit through various activities & discussing exercise, an obstacle course in the garden & an inside exercise class consisting of; jumping, hopping, balancing & stretching, followed by an activity where the children were encouraged to cut their fruit snack discussing why fruit is an important part of our diet & lastly the children were encouraged to cut & stick fruit & vegetable pictures & categorise them into the right columns, all promoting the children’s health & well-being.
