It’s been a busy month as November brings many events & celebrations, which we fully make the most of at Monkey Puzzle….
All children discovered fireworks through messy creative activities; our youngest children with a little help from their carers used spray bottles filled with paint to create a bright & colourful firework night display, with 3d decorated tubes as racing rockets! Our older children enjoyed splat & string painting to create firework patterns; the children explored mixing colours & using the paint brushes to flick the paint, firework sounds were discussed & imitated & the bonfire night song sounded throughout the nursery!
The festival of lights was celebrated through-out the nursery & variations of lights were discussed. The children created glittery candles, drew pictures of candles whilst discussing colour & 3d lanterns hung from the washing lines. Our oldest children were able to initiate their own play at nursery by listening to some of their friends recalling & reciting how they have been celebrating Diwali at home.
The nursery quietened for a minutes silence on the 11th hour of the 11th day to remember those who we have lost & all the people who have helped us. Hand-printed Poppies decorated the nursery.
Children in Need
We had a fun filled day at nursery & all to raise money for a very important cause. Children of all ages worked very hard leading up to Children in Need cooking up a storm, baking lots of delicious cakes & biscuits to sell at our bake sale. The children’s creativity really shone as they thoroughly enjoyed decorating what they had baked with yellow icing & sprinkles! All staff & children attended nursery in their cosy pyjamas & participated in lots of exciting activities; sleepovers & stories in the dark, acting out songs (ten in the bed), pin the bandage on the Pudsey & creating Pudsey’s through sticking & salt-dough moulding! We were delighted to be joined by some of our lovely parents who helped us finish off some yummy cakes, biscuits & joined us for our tea!
