Halloween is one of our favourite times of year at Monkey Puzzle, Orient Close. The nursery was covered in Halloween decorations with cobwebs covering every window and spooky bunting hanging across all the rooms. The children delved their hands into gloopy, gooey, messy activities discovering the spooky texture of cornflour, slime and paint collaboratively mixing them together to create their own Witch’s potions. Both the children and staff dressed up for the Halloween party where they danced to scary music playing Spooky Statues and Ghost Bumps and enjoyed a party tea! The menu was changed for most of the week as the children had a taste of Mummified Sausages, Coffin Biscuits, Slime Smoothie, Worms on toast, Hubble Bubble Pumpkin Pot and much more!
Also this month, Hispanic day provided the opportunity for the children to discover all things Spanish! They created their own flags of Spain by using their hands to print red and yellow stripes onto paper, dressed up in Traditional Spanish Clothing and made their own Spanish Music by discovering how to create sounds with castanets. Learning about different cultures and ways of life is a big part of what we do at Monkey Puzzle as young children begin to gain an understanding of the world around them.
