Each year in September, we raise money for Jeans for Genes day! 1 in 25 children are born with a genetic disorder in the UK so by raising funds for this very worthy children’s charity we are helping to provide nursing care, equipment, activity weekends, support and counselling. The whole nursery delved into our blue, denim charity day with enthusiasm with fantastic, diverse activities for all our children to explore such as; Decorating old recyled jeans, dressing up, blue construction and so much more… and I am very pleased to announce that, this year, we raised over £250!! We will continue to annually fundraise for this very worthy children’s charity. Also this month, the children have been discovering the Chinese festival of Rabbit in the Moon by listening with interest to stories based on the Rabbit in the Moon Festival. For the special occasion, we had very interesting visitors as Celia, the Red Monkey’s room leader, brought in her lovely pet Rabbits to meet the children who were so excited to have the opportunity to stroke them, talk to them and chase them around the nursery! The children at Monkey Puzzle have always shown a strong interest in animals as we have had many different creatures visit us in the past such as ducklings, lambs, and the wide variety of exotic creatures that the Animal man brings once a year. Spending time with animals and living things provides great learning opportunities for the children as they discover how to care for others, learn about habitats and life cycles and develop an understanding of the world around them.
