At Monkey Puzzle St Albans we are delighted to offer a dedicated soft play and role play space, designed to give children room to move, imagine and explore. In the soft play area, climbing, crawling, balancing and sliding help little ones build strength, coordination and confidence in moving around their environment safely within a cushioned space.

Our role play area brings the outside world to child size with a vet, supermarket, café and salon to discover. Through caring for a poorly pet, filling a basket and counting out change, taking orders for lunch or styling a friend’s hair, children can act out what they see every day and start to understand the world around them. This kind of pretend play is wonderful for language development, as children chat, negotiate and tell stories together, and it nurtures early maths, social skills such as sharing and turn-taking, and empathy for others.

Above all, our soft play is a place where children learn through play, following their own curiosity while having lots of fun along the way.

We also offer a sensory room which is a calm, gentle space where children can explore the world through sight, sound and touch. Soft lighting, interesting textures and soothing sounds encourage little ones to look, listen and feel, which helps develop their senses and their understanding of the world around them. Busy days can be a lot for young children, and time in a quieter setting helps them relax, regulate their emotions and feel settled. The room supports every child, including those who may find a busy environment overwhelming, and gives our team a lovely space for focused, one-to-one moments together.
